Festive Events at High Grange
As the clocks go back and we settle into Autumn, we’re looking through trick or treating and Guy Fawkes to the Christmas season ahead. I’m swaying between fear of what this year will bring - Russian aggression and energy wars and a cost of living that feels terrifying for many; but also a recognition that in the years before we couldn't even spend Christmas with loved ones due to Covid and how lucky we are that we’re out of that now.
Our Fire School has closed its doors now until Spring (although Luke will be cooking outside all Winter of course!) but we’re continuing our Supper Clubs, drinking cocktails outside in the wonderful woodland all lit up beautifully (we weren’t sure about colour in the woods but John Newton at Lyme Lights has highlighted the trees in a truly spectacular way), followed by a sit down supper in our cosy Shippen, and we have a Christmas Feast to finish the year off in style. Added to that, we are putting more emphasis on wellbeing and creative classes this season for obvious reasons, with our Soul Sessions beginning on Thursday, a special yoga and mulled wine session, and wreath-making. And if you’ve already opened the Celebrations, we have Rosie Jackson doing regular exercise classes.
Whether or not we see you this festive season, try to rest, spend time with people you love, doing things that make you happy…
A wonderfully uplifting positive session with mindset coach Janey Holliday on how to prioritise the things you love, and take control of your time, with tips and tricks to take you into the festive season and beyond.
Friday 25th November - Fire Supper: Steak and Chips
We’ll hang giant whole ex-dairy rumps of beef from our fire pit hanging frame and cook to a perfect pink over oak embers - Goose fat triple cooked chips, bone marrow butter and Trill Farm salad to go with it!
Wednesday 30 November 11.30am - Christmas Wreath Workshop with Sarah Broom
Cosy in our Shippen, the chance to make a beautiful Christmas wreath using seasonal flowers, plants and decorations, with refreshments and a glass of fizz. Bring friends, family & secateurs!
Friday 2nd December - Fire Supper: Francis Mallman whole lamb feast
A repeat of our first ever Fire Supper - a whole Kilmington lamb cooked all day on our Asado cross. Loads of vegetables cooked on the plancha and chimichurri to spice everything up.
Saturday 10 December - Christmas Feast
This is Christmas in style. Starting with a smoked pine negroni and canapés, we’ll bring you inside for spiced lobster soup, trout terrine, warm pigeon salad, Kilmington goose, and chocolate orange pudding.
Wednesday 14 December 7pm - The Soul Sessions with Mische Howard: Flow to Slow Yoga & Mulled Wine
A 2 hour vinyasa flow to twist away the stress of the year that’s been, slowing down to soothe any worries and finally enjoy a glass of mulled wine or fizz and set your intentions for the end of the year.
