Cookbook Club Special with Alex Pole - Knife-Forging Masterclass & 3 course lunch inspired by "The Forge Kitchen"
Our Cookbook Clubs celebrate one of our favourite cookbooks each month, inviting guests to an informal discussion and lunch about a different book each time, mostly accompanied by the author themselves. They are turning into the most lovely, informal community, where we chat about food, demo cooking and then sit down for a delicious communal meal. The brilliant Matt Austin has done a video for our cookbook club with Kathy Slack which you can see below.
For June, we have teamed up with Master Blacksmith, Alex Pole, to curate an incredible day at High Grange on Friday 10th June 11am to 3pm. Guests will arrive at 11am to have a unique knife-forging masterclass with Alex and his team. He will talk about all aspects of forging and metalwork and his beautiful new book, The Forge Kitchen. Luke will cook 3 delicious courses from the book and you will eat at our great Oak table, with Alex and his merry band of blacksmiths overlooking our outdoor fire kitchen and the rolling Devon hills.
Alex himself says: Blacksmithing is not just a craft to me , but a way of life, and one that gives great satisfaction. I have always had a fascination with metals for as long as I can remember and it feels like I have constantly been drawn towards this wonderful material.
We will have drinks available to purchase on the day and you can buy copies of Alex's book from High Grange. For any other questions, do have a look at the FAQ page on our website.
