Come prepared to learn, eat and laugh. Join Luke at our award-winning Fire School to tick off a bucket list experience, get out in the woods to cook and eat a whole deer, in association with Chris at the brilliant Barbecue Shack in Bovey Tracey.
We like nothing more than to butcher in-house, having sourced an animal that we know has lived a good life and hasn't travelled far to get to us.
At Deer in a Day you’ll learn butchery techniques and about different cuts of venison, as well as all the sides. We’ll explore how to get the best out of whatever cut you are cooking and how to cook it over fire. We’ll even do some curing too!
The day will be fun and an immersive experience with participants encouraged to get stuck in. There will be plenty to eat throughout the day and it will culminate in a feast sitting at our communal oak table.
We’ll cook our deer on a variety of different ‘toys’ - our family of Kamado Joes, Vulcanus fire pit and various grills and fire pits. Luke has been a chef for almost 25 years and owned a butchers in London so the day will cover all types of cooking as well as plenty of skills and tips for anyone who’s interested in cooking venison.
