Outdoor Feasts, Dining and Experience Days - Vouchers available now
With news that vaccines are starting to be rolled out next week, perhaps it’s time to tentatively think about ‘normality’. As such we are delighted to say that our full diary of feasts, experience days and accommodation will be forthcoming soon. In the meantime let me tell you a bit about our 2020 – what we’ve been up to, what we have built and what it means for 2021…..
We had to take a mighty Oak tree down at the end of last year and we always knew that we didn’t just want to chop it up into firewood – and so we asked Alex Brookes to make us a table out of it – it’s beautiful and huge and we can’t wait to have people sitting around it, feasting, laughing and making new friends. With the ‘leftover’ wood we also made a stunning bar (see below) which we absolutely love.
Our outdoor kitchen was installed in October - it’s a WWOO WALL – all anthracite concrete and fire…. We’ve incorporated a couple of Big Green Eggs, a pizza oven, a Braai Master grill and a big gas ring. We can cater for HUNDREDS of people and its so beautiful too.
We’re also doing a load of planting – ferns, grasses, herbs and wild flowers to make an even more beautiful environment – we’ve built insect hotels and hung bird boxes and feeders all over the place, this will be a place of bees and butterflies as well as beets and beef….
Our chickens are established now, led fearlessly by Neville the rooster and the new veg patch, although looking a bit bedraggled now will burst into life next year. We will feed our family with own veggies and eggs as well as using them as far as possible for our feasting nights and cookery days.
