Our June Feast

You may have noticed Luke cooked at the Spring Classic Festival this weekend, which featured the most amazing Fire Kitchen set up overlooking the Woolacombe bay (see above). He was asked to join the pro surfing competition (ho ho) but instead did an amazing steak masterclass, followed by a feast of Dalwood asparagus and low and slow ex-dairy beef short ribs, with Devon smashed potatoes and a burnt courgette, anchovy and and charred pepper salsa. Back at High Grange, at last the garden is bursting into life - the veggie patch is literally bursting at the seams - making menu writing even more exciting and definitely my favourite job of the week. For our June feast we still have our incredibly local asparagus (we’ll have HG asparagus next year!) but also, sweet baby carrots and peas…. with whipped ricotta- early summer in a plate.

And the guys at Lyme Bay fish shack are pulling out some whopping brill at the moment so we’ll have that- roasted whole over embers and served with an intense squid-ink and shellfish stock rice. Then I always try to sneak in some spice so pork collar, smoked overnight with an aromatic curry sauce if lime, chilli, coriander and peanuts. Maybe a seared scallop too…

And at last! The gooseberries are coming through- my favourite… a creamy parfait, chewy meringue…. Perfection.

Green Cleaning Workshop Thursday 22nd June 7pm - Debbie Parsons who works with DoTERRA is doing a session on non toxic green cleaning using kitchen stapes like bicarb of soda and vinegar. You’ll come home with your own multi-purpose spray and lots of DIY recipes.

Tapas Masterclass & Paella Lunch Friday 23rd June - Ed and Giselle from the Strawberry Tree come to High Grange for a one-day special Spanish treat, with a demo, tapas masterclass, and delicious paella lunch.

Nourish…at High Grange Saturday 24th June 9.30am-5.30pm - our inaugural retreat day bringing together our Food and Wellbeing offerings. Only 3 spaces remain.
