Autumn Events & Christmas Feasts
It feels like the long hot summer of ‘22 is at an end…. Our once arid lawn is now waterlogged and verdant whilst the trees begin their slow, brutal shedding. Soon the fires will be less outdoors and more indoors and my thoughts turn to cosy Sunday roasts, Guinness and long slow braises.
That said, we are a year round fire business here and I love nothing more than a crisp autumn evening, the smell of woodsmoke and mist permeating the woods. And so….. We are very excited to present our Autumn/Winter diary of events. We understand acutely that this winter is going to be hard for everyone so we’ve added lots of our great value Fire Suppers on Friday nights beginning on 7th October - these are our informal meals that all involve communal feasting and big fires - and, selfishly, they always involve my favourite things to eat……If the weather looks nice, we’ll sit outside, if not we’ll fire up the wood burner and get cosy in our converted barn, The Shippen.
So we’ll have whole rumps of ex-dairy beef with bone marrow chips and HG salad, or Peri-peri whole chickens, or garlicky smoked mussels. We might have a Thai Barbecue, an all-veggie Grill or a Goan seafood grill. As the game season grinds into gear, I’ll fire-roast whole haunches of venison or sear wild mallards. These are evenings of generosity and conviviality - you can eat as much or as little as you want and wash it all down with wines, beers, ciders or kombucha from our carefully curated list. You can book on to a specific date or buy a voucher as a gift for a loved one. Tickets are £45 and can be booked via our Events page here.
Speaking of gifts, one of our favourite set of events last year were our Christmas Feasts so we’re doing another 3 this year on Thursday 8th, Friday 9th and Saturday 10th December. You can book here and get in quickly as these sold out fast last year. Full vegetarian and pescatarian menus are as ever available. Sample menu below:
