Art Workshop: Drawing with Nature with Jo Beal - 15th September
We know that everyone right now is seeking retreat. Life is busy, the world is a scary place, and everything just seems a little hard. I’ve been reading lately about the types of rest we all need in our lives - we all know that time spent on the sofa eating crisps is never wasted, but did you know you also need sensory, emotional, spiritual, mental, social and creative rest?
I’ve been looking to bring more creative practices into our retreat offerings and so I’m delighted to host Wiltshire-based artist Jo Beal to High Grange to curate a day-long botanical art workshop. Jo is well known for her botanical drawing, her nature and art journaling and associated workshops.
Led by Jo, you will explore and capture the form, colour, textures and shapes of seasonal plants and flowers, including some from the beautiful gardens at High Grange, using a range of pens, pencils, inks and mark-making tools in this fun and experimental workshop.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone wanting to develop their skills. Lunch is of course a big deal at High Grange, and you will be served a three course lunch by Luke in our woodland dining area. All materials are provided.
Lunch menu*
High Grange veg patch salad with labneh, toasted seeds and pomegranate dressing
Fire-pit chicken schwarma, pickled slaw, roast cauliflower and homemade pita bread
Lemon and lime posset, lemon and stem ginger biscuits, strawberries
*Vegetarian and other dietary requirements fully catered for
With top tips on tools and techniques you will gain confidence in your drawing, make new friends and have fun along the way! Book in here.
