Cookbook Club - 9th March 12-2pm - James Whetlor's Big Green Egg Cookbook

We are delighted to begin our 2022 Cookbook Clubs with an obvious choice of book.

During a rare and short break from lockdown in 2020, James Whetlor - award-winning author, co-founder of Cabrito Goat, and former chef of some of our favourite London restaurants and the River Cottage - came to High Grange with his team to cook and shoot photos (taken by brilliant photographer Sam Folan) for his book “Cooking On The Big Green Egg”, using our huge selection of Big Green Eggs and in our gorgeous woodland. You may see some of us sneaking into shot from time to time too…

It was a week of amazing food, brilliant photos, and some great leftovers. As you can see below, the book covers the full array of outdoor cooking from the freshest veg to the tastiest meat, and guides the reader through the basics of using your Big Green Egg, with a full explanation of how it works and how to get the best out of it, whether you're cooking on the grill or plancha, oven roasting, smoking, baking, cooking 'dirty' directly on the coals, or taking it low and slow.

Cookbook Club is our new, relaxed, informal lunch club, full of discussions and tips about cooking, and showcasing a new cookbook that we know and love each month. On 9th March, guests will arrive at 12pm and Luke and James will discuss James’ previous James Beard Award winning book ‘Goat’ and why he loves cooking on Big Green Eggs. Both he and Luke will be on hand to offer tips that they have picked up over the years.

You’ll then be guided to the outdoor oak table where you’ll eat a delicious 3 course meal cooked by James and Luke inspired by the book, with finish around 2pm.

Price: £45. Book your space here.
