Rough Patch: Garden Wellbeing, Demo & Lunch with Kathy Slack, Friday 28th March 2025
Rough Patch: Garden Wellbeing, Demo & Lunch with Kathy Slack, Friday 28th March 2025
We are thrilled to welcome back writer, chef and veg grower extraordinaire, Kathy Slack, to talk about her new book ‘Rough Patch’ - a memento about Kathy’s breakdown as a busy advertising executive and her recovering in the countryside hands in the soil, learning how to plant and grow veg. She shares recipes inspired by the land as well as the healing powers of nature, a quiet manifesto for a more connected life.
Taking place just after the Spring Equinox when our gardens are starting to blossom, the day will begin with woodland meditation and grounding exercises with reiki master and breathwork coach Natalie Vallely to connect to nature and self.
Kathy will then discuss her latest book, Rough Patch, sharing her kitchen garden secrets. This is a great opportunity to ask all of your burning gardening questions whilst your hands are in soil and Kathy guides you through a practical gardening activity.
Afterwards we’ll move to our woodland kitchen where Luke will demonstrate how to get the most out of veggies when cooking outside over fire.
Luke and Kathy will cook up a fiery feast using recipes from Kathy’s new book and produce from the High Grange kitchen garden and trusted local suppliers for you to enjoy.
There will be plenty of time throughout to wander the grounds, relax, and spend time outdoors in our lovely woodland. We invite you to rest here at the end of the day around our firepits, warm drink in hand while Kathy signs your book.
The day will take place from 10am-3pm and includes a signed copy of Rough Patch to take home.
