About Us
A family-run food, fire and wellbeing space in the Devon hills
High Grange is run by Luke and Sara Vandore-Mackay, who swapped city life for three acres of woodland and built something personal, rooted and award-winning.
With a background in food, wine, law, writing and wellbeing, they’ve created a venue where fire cooking, feasting and rest all come together to create something truly memorable. Learn about their story, their team, their awards and what it’s like to hire High Grange for private events or shoots.
FIRE SCHOOLS
Outdoor cooking classes using real fire and raw local ingredients
Spend a day learning how to cook over flames with Luke Vandore-Mackay – chef and founder of High Grange – and the team. You'll light fires, prep ingredients, cook on everything from ceramic Kamado grills to open pits – and then feast on what you’ve created. Our Fire School is informal, generous and hands-on!
From shellfish to smoked lamb, ash-baked vegetables to buried venison, no two experiences are the same. First time by a fire, or you’re looking to sharpen your skills? Either way, you’ll leave with confidence, knowledge, and a very full stomach.

Feast events
Fine dining, Devon-style – cooked over fire and shared at the table
High Grange Feast Nights are award-winning communal dinners cooked outdoors in our woodland kitchen. We start with cocktails at the bar, then sit at our long oak table for five beautiful courses, all cooked over fire using the best of the East Devon larder.
Prefer something a little more casual? Try our Fire Suppers – same great ingredients, fewer courses, and a slightly looser feel. Or visit us at our new Silo bar – a reclaimed agricultural space set among the trees, built for feasting, gathering and watching the stars.
